We in Dominica are blessed with an abundance of rainfall, ground water and fertile lands, all of which are important necessary for the production of food to sustain life in the nature isle,” he said.Food security remains a top priority for the government of Dominica, he said, as well as the preservation of water and natural resources.“Government has taken steps over the years to build capacity among our local farming community, by providing better access to agricultural lands and other resources necessary for food production,” he said,However Austrie said global phenomenon such as climate change poses a serious threat to the natural environment and the ability to feed one’s country.“One cannot forget the drought conditions experience here in 2010…while tropical storm Ophelia inflicted millions in infrastructural damage last year, the impact on agriculture could also be similar equated” .Austrie said an urgent response to better understand the impact of global warming and climate change is needed. Pirates Blanked By Spartans

first_imgIn another EIAC matchup, the Pirates’ 5th game in 7 days, Greensburg fell to Connersville 8-0. The game was well in hand for the Spartans early on, scoring 2 goals off of throw-ins within the game’s first 15 minutes. Despite possession being favorable for Connersville for most of the game, Pirates played aggressive and continued to push to score, despite the deficit. Pirate offense was lead by Joseph Pacilio and Vincent Pavy who had 3 shots and 2 shots respectively. Grayson Newhart and Collin Springmeyer each had a shot on goal for the Pirates.
