VisitUSA Croatia is working on establishing a permanent air connection between Zagreb and New York

first_imgWork on the project began more than a year ago when it was established in Croatia VisitUSA Croatia. VisitUSA Croatia is an advisory board that works to promote travel to the United States. This weekend, VUSA Croatia organized a B2B workshop for tour operators, travel agencies, airlines and the media interested in organizing trips to the United States or promoting US destinations as part of the PLACE2GO tourism fair in Arena Zagreb.  Cover photo: Pixabay.com, Illustration: HrTurizam.hr Workshop partners VUSA Croatia, from left: Ivo and Tanja Pilat owners of MONDO TRAVEL, US Ambassador to Croatia – W. Top destinations for American tourists by overnight stays are Dubrovnik, Split, Zagreb, Hvar and Rovinj.    Related news: On the occasion of the workshop, the first direct flight to the USA, Philadelphia-Dubrovnik, was announced, the first of its kind since the independence of the Croatian state, which will start in June this year. ”A direct flight between the US and Croatia sends a strong, positive message to the tourism sector. I hope that all direct flights this summer will be full and that they will lead to the introduction of new direct flights, creating additional tourist and business trips.”Said the US Ambassador to Croatia, W. Robert Kohorst.  FROM 2019 DIRECT FLIGHTS FROM DUBROVNIK TO THE USA VUSA Croatia’s performance at PLACE2GO this year was attended by National Geographic Croatia magazine, ski destinations Aspen and Vail presented by TravelAdvisor, as a tour operator Mondo Travel, Sunčana Vura – Work & Travel, Air France KLM as currently the most affordable airline for many destinations in the USA . W. Robert Kohorst, US Ambassador to Croatia: A direct flight between the US and Croatia sends a strong, positive message to the tourism sector This flight is only a seasonal type, and VisitUSA Croatia is working on establishing a permanent air connection between Croatia and the USA, primarily on the Zagreb-New York route, because only this line will significantly encourage travel from Croatia to the USA. “At the moment, we have the announcement of an immediate year-round airline that would connect the United States and Croatia, and this will only happen. We are optimistic about this project and if a larger number of partners with the same vision gather around this idea. Croatia is definitely a regional tourist superpower and we must use this circumstance to impose ourselves as a leader in the outgoing offer with a regional origin in Croatia. The first B2B workshop of VisitUSA Croatia under the auspices of BRAND USA seems like a small step in that direction, but all travelers know that even the longest journey begins with the first step”Concluded Goran Rihtarić, Executive Chairman of the Board of VisitUSA Croatia. For the first time, Croatia is in the plan of activities of the umbrella tourist organization of the USA – BRAND USA, and for the first time in Croatia, a business workshop VisitUSA Croatia was held. Alexander: Two days in, the Lakers have won the offseason … for what that’s worth

first_img Lakers practice early hoping to answer all questions Trail Blazers beat Grizzlies in play-in, earn first-round series with the Lakers Lakers, Clippers schedules set for first round of NBA playoffs This fits in neatly with the history of this franchise, of course. The best big man around invariably winds up in purple and gold, and while Davis might not be an exact comparison, consider him part of the line that includes George Mikan, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille O’Neal. (And yes, we’re leaving Dwight Howard out of this.)All of this assumes that when Davis is up for free agency next summer, he will sign a max deal with the Lakers. It wasn’t a sure thing with any other team, but barring injury or some other catastrophe it sure seems like a fait accompli here, especially with Paul quoted in the SI story thusly: “The Lakers are Jennifer Lopez. You don’t want me to date Jennifer Lopez? Give me a reason I shouldn’t date J-Lo.”This should be an interesting courtship. Will it end with a ring?jalexander@scng.com@Jim_Alexander on Twitter Trail Blazers, Grizzlies advance to NBA play-in game; Suns, Spurs see playoff dreams dashed RELATED: Rich Paul’s influence on Lakers is under scrutinyBig winner II: Rob Pelinka, and while it’s not good form to gloat – and he doesn’t seem the type to do so publicly anyway – the Lakers’ boss of basketball operations is entitled today. For weeks, as reports of internal discord and confusion were layered one on top of the other, the Lakers’ front office seemed like a squirrel derby, with Pelinka’s ability as a GM and Jeannie Buss’ stewardship (and the voices and opinions of her kitchen cabinet) called into question. But Pelinka did what Magic Johnson could not, land the best big man of his era. And he did so while holding on to Kyle Kuzma, the best of the young players who have been added to the roster over the last three years.(Interestingly, when Johnson gushed about Saturday’s trade on Twitter, it was four tweets – and 12 minutes after the first – before he congratulated Pelinka. Take that for what it’s worth.) Newsroom GuidelinesNews TipsContact UsReport an Error So, Laker fans, how do you like those lottery picks now?Come to think of it, how do you like your management team now?The NBA’s offseason was two days old Saturday, and already the Lakers have won it. Technically, the trade reportedly consummated for Anthony Davis cannot be officially announced until July 6, the first day of the league’s new business year – and there’s talk that for salary cap purposes, it might even be unofficial until the end of July – but the news undeniably sent shock waves throughout the league.Among the losers? The Celtics, Knicks and Nets, all of whom had designs on trading for Davis with the idea, far-fetched as it might have been, of convincing him to re-up with them next summer. Consider Kuzma a winner, too, as one of the players affected by the trade speculation leading up to the deadline last season but the one who wound up staying. Lonzo Ball, on the other hand, let it be known at midseason that he didn’t want to go to New Orleans, and if he were traded he’d rather go to another team in need of a point guard. He doesn’t have enough clout yet to dictate terms, so his hope now would be that the Pelicans, who it is assumed will entertain offers for this Thursday’s No. 4 pick, might package him in a deal as well.(As an aside, it has been reported that LaVar Ball was visibly upset by the trade when he found out. Is this considered a win-win?)Are the Pelicans a winner in all of this? Could be, eventually. Ingram, Ball and Josh Hart will be added to a mix that already includes Jrue Holiday and will include presumptive No. 1 pick Zion Williamson after Thursday’s draft. The Pelicans can keep or shop the No. 4 pick, and they’ll have additional first-rounders, although if this works out as the Lakers hope those will be low picks. But consider: The Lakers turned two No. 2 picks (Ingram in 2016, Ball in 2017) into a No. 1 (Davis, the top pick in 2012 and a six-time All-Star since). It took a while, but all of those trips to the lottery worked out.Related Articles AD Quality Auto 360p 720p 1080p Top articles1/5READ MOREUCLA alum Kenny Clark signs four-year contract extension with PackersA major loser? The Golden State Warriors are reeling. They lost Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson to major injuries, lost their championship and might have gone from potential dynasty to also-ran as their Southern California rival zoomed past them. Revised odds posted by Caesars Sportsbook in Las Vegas Saturday afternoon had the Lakers as the new 2019-20 NBA favorites, at 7-2 odds.Of course, we figured the Lakers won the last offseason, as well, once LeBron James signed with them. That’s why they play the games. But this is what the Lakers should be doing. It’s part of their DNA, and adding the 26-year-old Davis – with enough financial heft available to bring in still another star this summer – tells their fans and their city that this franchise still means business, even if there is still reason to question their front office structure. And maybe the NBA’s balance of power is about to seriously tilt in the direction of Southern California. The Clippers are still to be heard from but will pursue Kawhi Leonard hard. And sorry, LeBron fans, but right now Leonard is the best player in the game – younger, more single-minded, less potential drama and a championship pedigree. If the Clips get their man, the Staples Center hallway rivalry will truly ascend to another level. The biggest winner on Saturday? Let’s just say that Rich Paul is living proof that agents are not affected by the Sports Illustrated cover jinx. Paul, the man behind Klutch Sports and LeBron’s (and Davis’) guy, was profiled in SI this week with this cover legend: “The King Maker: Rich Paul Will Own The NBA Summer.” It took two days from the time that appeared on newsstands and in mailboxes for that prediction to come true. GAA NOTES: NAOMH BRID

first_imgBoth our senior and reserve teams will be playing Division 2 football for 2012 after our seniors recored a 0-16 to 0-9 victory over neighbours Aodh Ruadh in the 2011 Division 3 promotion playoff on Friday night in Ballybofey. It didn’t take Naomh Brid long to get going with the lads racing into a 0-7 to 0-1 lead. Aodh Ruadh rallied with some late first half scores but 2 more Naomh Brid points helped the lads to a 0-9 to 0-4 half time lead. The lads fought hard in the second half to withstand an Aodh Ruadh comeback and were rewarded with some fine scoring moves which left them in control at the final whistle on a scoreline of 0-16 to 0-9. It was a great team performance and the lads can now look forward to playing in Division 2 for the year. Many thanks to all supporters who made the trip to Ballybofey to cheer the lads on.Any club members available to assist Aodh Ruadh with stewarding at the Mayo match on Sunday should report to Conal Gallagher in Aras Aodh Ruadh for 1pm on Sunday.Congratulations to Dermot Curristan and his wife on the birth of their baby boy last week.
