first_imgIncredible drone footage of Keadue Strand, indicates more powerfully that words ever could – as to why a proposed Oyster Farm should not be erected in the area.Locals in Keadue have formed a protest group in a desperate effort to stop one of the most scenic strands in Donegal from being destroyed by a proposed Oyster Farm development. In nearby Cruit Island, another Oyster Farm development has been proposed, and that has also been met by sharp resistance from locals. However, some feel that Keadue’s campaign has so far fallen on deaf ears, and there are now grave concerns that an Oyster Farm will be developed on it.Keadue Strand, is an area of huge historical importance, prior to Central Park being developed, the home of Keadue Rovers FC – the strand was used to host football matches and GAA tournaments.Keadue Strand was also the venue for flat racing, and crowds would flock from all over West Donegal to the scenic strand. Fr. Pat Ward, took this wonderful video which highlights the awesome beauty of the area.Ian Smith, a talented local musician who lives directly across from the strand, penned this beautiful song of what the area means to him.Simply click on the video above to play.Stunning drone footage shows why proposed Oyster Farm must not go ahead! was last modified: October 10th, 2016 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img
