Alderweireld breaks his silence on Man United links

first_img1 Toby Alderweireld has claimed his and Tottenham’s ideas about where his future lies differs but insists the club has full control of where he will be next season.Alderweireld, 29, appears to be unsettled Spurs, with Manchester United the most likely destination for him, should the Belgian leave.His 2017/18 season was hampered by a hamstring injury which kept him out for five months.But in an interview with Belgian newspaper de Zontag, Alderweireld admitted he had been thinking about his options for the future but is now fully focused on the upcoming World Cup.He said: “I have another two years contract, so Tottenham decide about my future.“Of course I have my own idea, but that is not the case now.“The past season was tough, but I’m glad that I could play the last four matches.“That means that I am ready for the World Cup.”Despite a difficult season, Alderweireld is likely to feature in Belgium’s three Group G matches in Russia, against Panama, Tunisia and England.
