Exclusive – Preston striker on Man United flop: ‘Falcao needed a cuddle!’

first_imgKevin Davies has told talkSPORT Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao “looked like he needed a cuddle” during Monday’s FA Cup fifth round clash at Preston North End.The Colombian star has so far failed to live up to his formidable goalscoring reputation since arriving at Old Trafford on loan at the beginning of the season, having netted just four times in 19 appearances. He struggled again during the Red Devils’ trip to Deepdale, where his substitution – being replaced by Ashley Young on the hour-mark – was key in the side’s comeback from a goal down to win 3-1 and seal their place in the last eight. And Preston striker Davies, who said he was “disappointed” with the manner of the defeat, admitted Falcao was not himself against the Lillywhites.“You got to give Van Gaal credit [for the turnaround],” he told Drivetime.“He took Falcao off and he was very quiet.“I was marking him at corners and he just looked like he needed a cuddle, he looked a little lost at times.“Obviously it’s a different style of football and a different environment for him, but Van Gaal made the change and that’s why he such a great manager.“They were struggling to get though us, we were really untroubled until they scored, and their first goal changed the game and they obviously went on to win it.”last_img
