Nokia 8.1 launched in India at Rs 26,999, brings Zeiss cameras, 6.18-inch PureDisplay and Android Pie

first_imgHMD Global launched the Nokia 8.1 in India on Monday, December 10 after announcing the device globally in Dubai last week. The Nokia 8.1 is a direct successor to the Nokia 7 Plus as per the company. It brings a premium design language along with a PureDisplay screen, Zeiss cameras, Snapdragon 710 chipset and Android 9 Pie.The Nokia 8.1 India price has been set at Rs 26,999 for the base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. While globally this is the only variant available, HMD is launching a 6GB + 128GB variant in India as well at a later date. The phone will be available starting December 21 and pre-orders are open from today on Nokia Mobile Store. It gets a wide notch on the top of the display and a chin. It also gets a 2.5D Gorilla Glass protection on the front and back. HMD has also included silver accents around the frame, rear camera and fingerprint sensor much like the Nokia 7 Plus. It brings a 6.18-inch display with a FHD+ (2246×1080) resolution and 18.7:9 aspect ratio. It also gets the PureDisplay screen technology that was first introduced with the Nokia 7.1. PureDisplay essentially means to offer higher contrast (1:1500) and a sharper display along with HDR10 support. The phone is also capable of upscaling SDR content to HDR as well. The Nokia 8.1 is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 710 chipset coupled with 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The former variant gets 64GB of internal storage while the latter comes with 128GB of inbuilt storage. Both variants support storage expandability up to 400GB via microSD card. The Nokia 8.1 packs a 3,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. The Nokia 8.1 is an Android One device much like every other Nokia phone this year and this one ships with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. This makes it the fifth Nokia phone to run Pie after the Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 7.1 got updated.advertisementHMD and Zeiss have teamed up again to offer the cameras on the Nokia 8.1. The phone sports a dual rear cameras with a 12MP + 13MP configuration. The primary sensor gets a 1.4 micron pixel, OIS, EIS and 2PD support. The secondary sensor will offer depth sensing. The device also comes with a 20MP front-facing camera. Connectivity options on board include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, among other things.
