Watch Scott Metzger Cover Grateful Dead, The Band In Rare Solo Set [Full Video]

first_imgThis past weekend at Philly’s Ardmore Music Hall, guitarist Scott Metzger (Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Wolf!, RANA) took to the stage for a very rare acoustic set, during a celebration for Wavy Gravy’s 80th Birthday. After opening the set with The Band‘s “Ophelia”, Metzger’s 40-minute set ran through songs from the Grateful Dead catalog, including the original “Throwing Stones”, and songs the group covered over the years such as “The Race Is On,” “Me & My Uncle” and “Katie Mae.”ALO Teams Up With Steve Kimock On Prince Cover at Wavy Gravy’s 80th Birthday PartyHe ran through a couple of Nick Lowe numbers, and got a little candid with the crowd, calling himself a “sensitive guy” before playing the love song “Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day”, and ended his set with a cover of Vincent Thompson‘s “1952 Vincent Black Lightning”. The entire set was filmed by Chris Cafiero.
