Matter of time before India play WC on their own: Rathore

first_imgKolkata, Oct 29 (PTI) Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore today hoped that the stupendous success of FIFA Under-17 World Cup would motivate the countrys budding footballers to improve their game and eye a World Cup qualification in near future.”We have got the start. We should not stop here. I hope we get the U-20 World Cup, so that the start gets even bigger momentum. I believe if things go like this, its not far when India will play in a World Cup on their own,” Rathore said before leaving for the capital.Rathore, who was invited for the U-17 World Cup prize distribution ceremony, said all big sporting organisations like FIFA now have India on their radar and the country should make the best use of it.”Its a matter of pride that the U-17 World Cup came to India. It has taken Indias importance at the world level to greater heights. Now the big competitions and sports which were earlier non-existent in India are feeling the need to come to this country.”The fans response has been fantastic, we broke all records of the most attended World Cup ever,” said Rathore. The Olympics silver medallist said it was time that football became a pan-India thing.”Football is popular only in a few regions like West Bengal, Goa and NorthEast. Its a nice opportunity to make the sport popular all over. We must make full use of this.”We will take full responsibility from the Centre by bringing up more infrastructure and prepare elite athletes by looking after their funding and resources. You have seen the overall infrastructure and the modifications that have come in place have been very satisfying. We now need to be prepared for the upcoming competitions,” he said.advertisementThe former shooter had a special word of praise for the sports loving crowd of Kolkata.”Kolkata has sports lovers. They understand the sport better. They waited for the ceremony to get over even after the match was over. They showed respect to both the teams. My heartfelt thanks to all the fans of Kolkata.”Rathore urged the athletes to be more determined, saying only resources cannot guarantee medals.”If you were to win an Olympic medal only because of the money and funding or resources, then the medals list would have the whos who of the society but thats not the case. Theres something that is very important in each of us and that is the determination. Thats the biggest strength in all of us,” he said.Rathore refused to comment on whether the ministry has directed National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) to conduct random tests of the cricketers during domestic and international cricket matches, being played in India.Rahul Bhatnagar, secretary, ministry of youth affairs and sports, said they have received a letter from WADA complaining about non-compliance in cricket.”I dont have anything to add to that.” PTI TAP CM CMlast_img read more

Red Pitaya: STEMlab at the heart of radar warning and information disaster management system

first_imgRed Pitaya announced that a consortium including a members from a major European research organisation, two German universities and industry,  is using STEMlab to perform waveform synthesis, IF signal sampling & signal processing on a new radar warning and information system for applications in disaster management (RAWIS) that is currently being developed. During a search and rescue operation, emergency teams and trapped survivors are exposed to high risk from partially- destroyed buildings and structures which can collapse causing injury. More, the situation is constantly changing as debris is moved. RAWIS will monitor any movement in the disaster environment and to warn individual of any danger. Harmless motion – people, rescue vehicles, animals, tree leaves etc – must be successfully suppressed. The RAWIS system consists of a main radar system which monitors the entire scene and measures submillimeter debris movements of any debris, auxiliary radars to perform measurements of individual hot spots, and units which are fastened to clothing worn by the rescuers.Auxiliary radars, which can cover hidden or covered areas, operate within the V-Band as the best compromise between resolution, size and system cost. Synthesis of the Tx waveform, sampling of the IF signal and signal processing are performed using Red Pitaya’s STEMlab, a low cost, credit-card sized FPGA board suitable for Software-defined Radar applications. This platform contains dual-channel AD/DA conversion capabilities with 14-bit resolution at 125MHz sample frequency.Share this:TwitterFacebookLinkedInMoreRedditTumblrPinterestWhatsAppSkypePocketTelegram Tags: Tools & Software Continue Reading Previous ADLINK joins Open Networking Foundation as collaborating innovatorNext Maxim works with Qualcomm on infotainment applications for smart, connected carslast_img read more
